Aaron Rodgers expected to play for the Steelers in 2026

The Baltimore Ravens may not be done seeing Aaron Rodgers twice a year after all. And honestly? That's both good and bad news to the flock. It all depends on your paradigm. To some, that's exactly the news that they wanted to hear. Poll friends and coworkers, and they'll tell you. Some of the Ravens' fan base isn't frightened by this version of Aaron Rodgers despite seeing their favorite team lose twice to the Pittsburgh Steelers last season.

Then, there's the other contingent. They know that, even though his best years are behind him, that four-time MVP is still in that body somewhere. According to Ian Rapoport, Rodgers "is expected to visit the Steelers Friday and this weekend", and there's growing belief around the league that Pittsburgh is ultimately where he lands for the 2026 season.

The Ravens-Steelers rivalry remains personal, and Baltimore eyes some payback

Rapoport added another important caveat in his report. Nothing is finalized until signatures hit paper. Still, the direction feels obvious. If Rodgers lands in Pittsburgh, the storyline practically writes itself. Not only would he join one of Baltimore's most hated rivals, but he'd reunite with Mike McCarthy. Rodgers and McCarthy won a Super Bowl together with the Green Bay Packers. That pairing alone creates intrigue.

Adding it directly to the Ravens-Steelers football? That's chaos. Let's be honest here. Baltimore probably hasn’t forgotten how last season unfolded. Rodgers and Pittsburgh swept Baltimore in 2025. The first meeting sparked controversy and frustration, but the result still counted the same in the standings. That tends to linger in rivalries like this one, especially when both franchises enter the following season expecting to contend again.

Baltimore certainly does. The Ravens spent the offseason aggressively reshaping their defense under Jesse Minter, adding names like Trey Hendrickson while continuing to build around Lamar Jackson offensively. The expectation inside the building feels clear. An immediate bounce back is the expectation.
