Christina Aguilera shared a rare photo with her 12-year-old daughter Summer on social media

The singer says motherhood has taught her patience and keeps her grounded
Christina Aguilera is spending some quality time with her daughter.
On Saturday, Aug. 29, the singer, 45, shared a rare photo of her 12-year-old daughter Summer Rain on her Instagram as she recapped moments from her summer. In the sweet mother-daughter photo, Aguilera could be seen wearing an American flag T-shirt and leaning against her daughter in front of a car.
Summer sat on the hood of a light blue car, wearing jeans. She smiled, keeping her brown bangs in front of her eyes as she put her arms around her mom.
“Summerween ☀️⛵️✈️🐱🎃💀🧛🏻♂️🕷️🕸️,” Aguilera captioned the post.

In addition to her daughter Summer, whom she shares with fiancé Matt Rutler, the “Genie in a Bottle” singer is also a mom to son Max, 18, whom she welcomed with ex-husband Jordan Bratman.
Back in March, Aguilera shared a recap of her family’s visit to Costa Rica’s La Paz Waterfall Gardens & Wildlife Refuge. In the clip, which was set to QUITAPENAS’ track “Jaguar,” Aguilera showed various clips of herself, Rutler and their daughter Summer enjoying nature and spending quality time together.

Last year, Aguilera appeared on an episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show and opened up about parenting her two kids. When Jennifer Hudson asked Aguilera how she earns “cool mom points” with her son, the mom of two admitted it’s “tough.”
“It’s tough with kids in general,” she said, “They will call you out for anything and everything. And I’m like, ‘I’ve lived through some things, too!’ ”
“For sure they keep you humbled, but you do learn through their eyes also and [motherhood] teaches you patience, too,” continued Aguilera.
Aguilera also shared that her daughter Summer is interested in following in her mom’s footsteps. “She’s such an artist, she paints, she draws, she makes beautiful masks, and she’s just so creative, but she’s definitely her own thing,” Aguilera said.
“And I never want to push anything on my kids, whatever they’re passionate about, I’m there to support it, but she has taken an interest in acting, so she’s had a few lessons,” she added.
