Taraji P. Henson commented on a post by Meredith Lynch about the celebrities attending the Jeff Bezos-backed Met Gala. In the video, Lynch clearly stated that celebrities should avoid wearing the ICE out pins at the fashion event as she cast blame on its honorary chair, Bezos, and Lauren Sanchez for dragging people into this mess. While she acknowledged the institution’s contribution to a good cause, she also slammed Bezos’ support for Donald Trump.

Tara P. Henson recently took to Lynch’s comment section to showcase her support for the video the latter posted about celebrities going to the Jeff Bezos-backed Met Gala. She wrote, “I am so confused by some ppl that are going. I am just like WTF ARE WE DOING!?!?!?!”

Meredith Lynch revealed the reason why celebrities should avoid wearing the ICE Out pins. She further cast the blame on Bezos’ support for Trump’s presidency. In fact, she said, “Jeff Bezos is part of the reason we’re in this fucking mess. Jeff Bezos supports this fucking mess.” She acknowledged that the funds from the Met Gala are used for a good cause. However, she also stressed that one cannot forget that Trump was the one who slashed the federal arts funding. Also, she claimed that Bezos backed Trump in these efforts.

She further mentioned that she wanted to put this video out for the publicists, who were confused about whether they should send their client to the Met Gala. Moreover, she wants them to take this as a reminder not to go to the Bezos-backed gala.

This year, the guests were asked to follow the “Fashion is Art” dress code. Through it, they are supposed to “express their own relationship to fashion as an embodied art form. Plus, celebrate the countless depictions of the dressed body throughout art history,” per The Met website.
