Cristiano Ronaldo can always count of his biggest champion.
Shortly after Portugal was knocked out of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Monday, July 6, following a 1-0 loss to Spain in the round of 16, Ronaldo’s fiancée, Georgina Rodríguez, reacted to the game on Instagram, as the match marked the final World Cup clash of the 41-year-old soccer superstar’s career.
In a post shared on her Instagram Stories, Rodriguez paired a powerful emoji with a repost from Nike that paid tribute to Ronaldo’s legacy.

“His Legend Lives On,” the text on Nike’s post read alongside a red and black portrait of Ronaldo. “❤️,” Rodríguez, 32, simply added on her Instagram Stories after the match against Spain.
Ronaldo first met Rodríguez in Madrid in 2016. The couple dated for nearly a decade before she announced the news of their engagement with a photo of her “enormous” ring on Instagram in August 2025.
Speaking to the press on Sunday, July 5, Ronaldo announced that this year will be his final year with the Portuguese national team.

“It’s about enjoying it as much as possible,” Ronaldo said, per ESPN. “This will be my last World Cup, but let’s hope tomorrow isn’t my last game.”

“The day will come [when I retire from international football]. But I’ll be honest. Whatever happens tomorrow, Cristiano will leave with a clear conscience, not 100%, but 1,000%. Because I’ve given everything in football,” he continued.
“I don’t need it, I have a good life, but it’s about passion. I play football because I love it ... You have to enjoy every day. And I’ve scored three goals [at this World Cup], I’m not doing too badly, right?” Ronaldo added.
At this year’s World Cup, Ronaldo became the first player to score in six World Cups when he netted two times against Uzbekistan in the group stage, ESPN reported. He also scored a penalty against Croatia in the round of 32, which marked his first goal in a World Cup knockout round match.
