Partonās signature biggest hits ā including āI Will Always Love You,ā āJolene,ā āCoat of Many Colors,ā and ā9 to 5ā ā will make up the score, which will be filled out with new songs the singer-songwriter wrote especially for the show. She also penned the book, collaborating with two-time Emmy Award winner Maria S. Schlatter.
The Broadway production follows a sold-out premiere engagement in Nashville that became the most successful production in the history of Belmont Universityās Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.
Casting for the Broadway engagement has not yet been announced, but three actresses three actresses ā Katie Rose Clarke, Carrie St. Louis and Quinn Titcomb ā shared the role of Dolly during the out of town tryout, each depicting the icon at different stages of her rise to superstardom. Partonās humble beginnings were portrayed by Titcomb as āLittle Dolly,ā while St. Louis, as āDolly,ā covered the singerās breakout success. For Partonās legendary chapters, Clarke stars as āDolly Parton.ā
A similar structure was been used in biomusicals before, included ones about Cher and Donna Summer.

Producers said the creative team has continued refining the musical following itās Nashville run.
What hasnāt changed is the heart of the story, giving audiences a deeper look at the beloved starās life than ever before.
āDuring our world premiere in Nashville, I was overwhelmed by the deep connection audiences have with Dolly,ā Sher said in a statement. āYou mention her name and people light up and share a time that she has inspired them and brought them joy. But despite all of that genuine love, Dolly has never really shared her story before. Sheās offered glimpses and peeks, but this musical allows her to reveal the unfiltered story in her own words. As we prepare to come to Broadway, weāre thrilled to show that rhinestones were never her whole story.ā
In fact, Parton herself echoed Sherās statement when she showed up at opening night of the musical in Nashville.
āThis has been a lifetime int he works and I hope everyone enjoyed it,ā she said. in video shared to Instagram. āAnd I want to thank our wonderful cast and crew.
