Fox News host and long-time Trump supporter Mark Levin has criticized the president following remarks about removing sanctions on Turkey, a decision Levin described as a "big mistake."

The rebuke came soon after Donald Trump met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Ankara at the recent NATO Summit. Trump, who had previously indicated he might not attend the event, eventually showed up, emphasizing the strong personal bond he shares with Erdogan.

During his visit, Trump suggested a potential change in U.S. policy regarding Turkey, indicating his administration was weighing the removal of sanctions and possibly reconsidering the sale of F-35 fighter jets to the nation. It comes as worrying new photos revealed Trump's shocking physical appearance when he's not wearing make-up.

The suggestion raised alarm bells, considering current legal limitations and continuing worries about Turkey's previous acquisition of Russian missile defense systems. "We're going to be taking the sanctions off," Trump stated during the meeting. He also implied Turkey had been "more loyal" than other NATO partners, suggesting a wider reevaluation of America's relationship with the country, reports the Express US.

These remarks represented a significant departure from Trump's previous position. During his initial term, he excluded Turkey from the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program following its purchase of Russian S-400 systems, expressing concerns that classified U.S. technology might be compromised by Moscow.

Levin responded swiftly to footage of Trump's comments, which captured Erdogan looking noticeably satisfied, even smirking and offering a quick thumbs-up signal.

"It's Christmas in Turkey," Levin posted on X, employing the expression metaphorically. "We're piling on so many generous and expensive gifts even Erdogan is surprised. Big Mistake."

The criticism is significant considering Levin's track record as one of Trump's most outspoken media advocates. He has regularly lauded the president, especially regarding his position on Israel.

During a Hanukkah event last year, Levin even called Trump America's "first Jewish president" in acknowledgment of his policies. Furthermore, in April, when Levin found himself in a media conflict with Megyn Kelly and Tucker Carlson, Trump defended him, describing the Fox News star as a "great American patriot" and implying his detractors were "jealous."

Despite that partnership, Levin has demonstrated he's prepared to challenge Trump on major foreign policy matters. His recent remarks about Turkey come after previous disapproval of Trump's handling of Iran, including what Levin characterized as an "unthinkable" Memorandum of Understanding.

During that period, Levin advocated for a more forceful approach, urging Trump to "finish off" Iran instead of pursuing diplomatic talks with its government.

It comes as Trump health concerns grow as a shocking new photo shows 'something is seriously wrong' with the president.
