New details of Steve Burton's custody battle are coming to light.

Text messages allegedly between the *General Hospital* star and his ex-wife, Sheree Amador, were published by TMZ in the midst of their ongoing legal battle over custody of their 11-year-old daughter, Brooklyn.

The publication shared snippets of an alleged text exchange between Burton and Amador from March 14 of this year, which the outlet said the actor submitted as part of the custody case. Burton, who in recent years has split time between California and Tennessee, allegedly texted his ex to oppose their daughter's enrollment in a summer program in California.

"This is manipulation," his alleged message says per the outlet. "You signed an order."

The text goes on to declare that Amador should have told the 11-year-old, "Hey Brook your dad has you a lot in the summer." Burton allegedly told his ex, according to TMZ, "I know your priority is not having her spend time with us. Activities do not Trump time with family."

The actor allegedly claimed in the exchange that Amador told their daughter "Dad won't let you" proceed with the summer plans, going on to say that she should have told Brooklyn "it's not gonna work."

Burton allegedly added, "This is something that you signed and you decided to neglect that and now put it on brook."

The reported text ends, "So now you'll be able to say you made a mistake and we should schedule my weeks."

A representative for Burton declined to comment on the subject. Amador did not immediately respond to **'s request for comment.

TMZ also published Amador's alleged response to the message, which was timestamped two hours after the previous text was sent.

"No it's not," the actor's ex allegedly wrote per the outlet. "I told you she wanted to do jr guards. You knew this. You are the one who decided to move. Her life is here. She's going to be more involved in things. You're welcome to be here and be a part of it."

Amador allegedly continued per TMZ, "I told you I'm willing to work with you but she shouldn't be limited to activities she wants to do because you insist on her being in Tennessee. That's not right or fair to her. Please just enjoy your weekend with your daughter. I'm done talking about this."

TMZ reports that Burton later replied, “The truth is, you’ve never been willing to work with anything. If you were, we never would’ve gone to court in the first place just to see my daughter.”

Burton separated from Amador in 2022, announcing on social media that she was "expecting her 4th child. The child is not mine." He said at the time that the couple would continue to co-parent their three children, Makena, Brooklyn, and Jack. They later finalized their divorce agreement in 2023.

In February the actor said he was taking some time off from *General Hospital* after his wedding the previous year. "Hey everyone, I wanted to share that I'll be taking a short break from *General Hospital*," Burton wrote on Instagram. "I'm newly married and looking forward to spending some quality time with my family."

Burton, 55, married chef and content creator Michelle Lundstrom in May 2025 after announcing their engagement four months prior.

Amador, 48, who works as a fitness trainer, married Jason Amador in February 2025. The couple share two daughters together.
