Harry Styles didn’t need to name-drop Taylor Swift to get his Madison Square Garden crowd screaming.

While settling in for night 3 of his 30-concert “Together, Together” residency at the Garden, Styles couldn’t help but nod to a certain big event that took place at the venue this past summer.

“We’re at Madison Square Garden, home of the world champion New York Knicks,” Styles told the crowd, while pacing across the stage. He then quipped, “And they also do weddings!”

The reference to Swift and Travis Kelce‘s July 3rd wedding earned a roar of applause from the crowd who were no doubt aware of Styles’s history with the pop superstar. Styles and Swift dated from 2012 to 2013, and their relationship is believed to have inspired several of her songs, including “Style” from her 2014 album* 1989*. Meanwhile, the One Direction alum’s 2017 track “Two Ghosts”, is thought to be about Swift.

While Styles has taken over MSG with his recurrent residency — timed to promote his recent album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally” — his ex was previously at the center of the fervor surrounding the venue.

Swift and Kelce’s nuptials at the famed New York City venue welcomed an estimated 1,000 guests, including expected names (Lena Dunham, Ed Sheeran, Jason Kelce, the Haim sisters) and plenty of surprises (Brad Pitt, Karlie Kloss, and Tom Cruise). Among the attendees was Style’ fiancĂ©e, ZoĂ« Kravitz, who also happens to be close friends with Swift and co-wrote her hit “Lavender Haze.”

Styles missed out, as he was already committed to tour dates that included a 12-show stadium residency at London’s Wembley Stadium which overlapped with the day of Swift’s wedding.

Swift and Kelce’s ceremony at MSG unfolded as one of the biggest celebrity weddings of all time. The event was estimated to have cost between $2.5 million and $3 million. It was officiated by friend Adam Sandler and included performances from Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney.
