Hilaria Baldwin is opening up about a complicated chapter of early motherhood—one that involved a hefty paycheck.
While appearing on The Viall Files on Wednesday, December 10, the 41-year-old revealed that she and husband Alec Baldwin were paid $95,000 for the first photo of their oldest daughter, Carmen—a number that seemingly shocked hosts Nick and Natalie Viall. At the time, the media attention surrounding their newborn was relentless, and Hilaria said attempts to shield her children only made photographers more aggressive.
“I don’t think there’s a right answer but I found that the more I [tried to hide them], the more paparazzi there were,” she explained. That led her to make a difficult but intentional choice: “So I sold the first photos of the first few kids… I donated all the money to charity because it felt like a gross thing anyway.”
Then she dropped the bomb: “The first child was $95,000, and I donated all of that.” The entire amount from Carmen’s photo went to a Mallorca-based organization supporting children who have been sexually abused. “It felt meaningful,” she shared, noting she wanted to ensure that “somebody’s going to make money off of this” in a way that “put that money in a good place.”

As her family continued to grow, Hilaria said the business around celebrity baby photos shifted—and she began sharing images on Instagram instead. “What I learned from somebody who’s much more famous than me, is the more that you put the photo up, the lower the bounty is and the less harassment you get,” she said. “I think it just depends on weighing how much mental distress [it ’s causing you].”
On a separate podcast early in November, Uncut and Uncensored with Caroline Stanbury, Hilaria spoke candidly about the couple’s 26-year age gap. “I don’t believe that age is just a number, at least in our situation,” she said, adding that 67-year-old Alec’s additional life experience can be both “a flex” and “a little therapy.”
Still, she believes growing older has strengthened their partnership. By your 40s, she said, “you know what you want,” calling that confidence “extremely sexy and extremely just comforting.”In addition to Carmen, Hilaria and Alec are parents to Rafael, 9, Leonardo, 8, Romeo, 6, Eduardo, 4, María, 4 and Ilaria, 2. Alec also shares another daughter, Ireland, 30, with his ex-wife Kim Basinger.
