Jared Padalecki is getting in the holiday spirit on the set of The Bodyguard.
The actor, 43, reposted a behind-the-scenes video of himself filming the movie adaptation of Katherine Center’s 2022 romance book. The clip showed Padalecki riding on a Christmas float and holding a guitar as it snowed around him. He wore a red plaid button-down shirt and jeans with a scarf and a cowboy hat.
“Close-up of Jared at the High River Santa Clause [sic] for The Bodyguard!” the caption of the video on the Instagram fan page read, referring to a Christmas parade in Alberta, Canada.

In other fan footage from the event, Padalecki played the guitar and country artist Walker Hayes sang as the duo stood on the moving float, with fans cheering them on along the way.
Padalecki will star alongside Leighton Meester in the Netflix holiday romantic comedy based on Center’s novel. Hayes, 45, Andie MacDowell, Noah LaLonde and Toby Sandeman round out the cast.
The Bodyguard centers around an action star named Jack Stapleton (Padalecki) and the female bodyguard assigned to protect him, Hannah Brooks (Meester). Sparks fly when the two get caught up in a fake-dating scheme to convince Jack’s family that Hannah is his girlfriend.
The film will undergo a few changes from the novel. Not only will it be set at Christmastime, but fans will also get a chance to help name the movie, which does not have a release date yet.
Director Elizabeth Allen Rosenbaum previously teased the adaptation to Tudum.
“I began paying close attention to BookTok culture around the success of my last Netflix film, Purple Hearts,” she said in November. “The overwhelming enthusiasm on social media and with readers for Katherine Center’s novel was a major factor in my decision to come on board as director.”
She added: “It’s been amazing to work closely with Katherine so far and to see her so excited about moving her witty story about a no-nonsense bodyguard [for] an A-list actor into the holiday season. It makes the most gorgeous backdrop for the sparks that fly between them to be even brighter.”
