Lori Loughlin Debuts New Hair Color for Major Step

Lori Loughlin made her return to Instagram on August 31 after seven years away from the platform.
She enlisted many of her co-stars from Full House to help usher her back onto the social media site.
The actress also appeared to have a hair transformation as she did so, debuting darker locks than she’s been seen with lately.
Lori Loughlin is back on Instagram—and debuting a hair transformation as she rejoins the platform.
On August 31, the Full House star enlisted the help of her co-stars from the hit show to welcome her back to the social media site, and appeared to have darker hair and less blonde highlights as she cheekily made a reappearance after seven years away.
Loughlin deleted her Instagram account in the wake of the 2019 college admissions scandal that ultimately saw the actress serve two months in federal prison after she pled guilty to wire and mail fraud. Loughlin’s estranged husband, Mossimo Giannulli, also served prison time.
“Wake up San Francisco!” Loughlin captioned her first Instagram post since 2019. “I’m back on IG.”

Also included in the cute clip were John Stamos, Jodie Sweetin, Candace Cameron Bure, Dave Coulier, Scott Weinger, and Andrea Barber, all of whom told viewers, “Wake up, San Francisco!”—the name of the show that Loughlin’s Full House character Becky Donaldson co-anchored with Danny Tanner, played by the late Bob Saget.
In the clip, Loughlin recreates her return to the fictional Wake Up, San Francisco after Donaldson returns from maternity leave. The real-life Loughlin lip-synced the audio from the show, which said, “Hi, I’m Rebecca Donaldson, and I’m welcoming myself back to the show. Welcome back, Becky. Why, thank you, Becky. Welcome back.”

The college admissions scandal involved Loughlin, Giannulli, and their daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli and Isabella Rose Giannulli. More than 50 others were charged, including Felicity Huffman. In May 2020, Loughlin and Mossimo pleaded guilty to wire and mail fraud after being accused of paying $500,000 for their daughters’ admission to the University of Southern California, People reported.

Olivia Jade and Isabella Rose were falsely listed as recruits for USC’s crew team, “even though neither ever participated in the sport,” according to People. Loughlin served nearly two months in federal prison and was released in December 2020. Mossimo received a five-month sentence in August 2020. In October 2025, the couple separated after nearly 28 years of marriage, with a source telling People that the marriage never fully recovered after the court case, otherwise known as Operation Varsity Blues.
“No one is perfect,” she told First for Women magazine in 2024. “We all make mistakes. So I was always told to let stuff go. And I think for your own health, you have to let things go because you can’t hang on to negativity. Life is short.”
As a source previously told Us of the dissolution of the couple’s marriage, “The school scandal was a turning point, and they never really connected or recovered their relationship after that. She felt that he got her involved. She didn’t fully blame him, but he spearheaded it. She never fully forgave him and never fully got over it, and they were never the same after.”

In addition to her return to Instagram, Loughlin has also gone back to acting. Her next project is returning to Hallmark in a new film for her Garage Sale Mystery franchise on September 19. The show was initially canceled after she was fired from the network in 2019, per Entertainment Weekly.
