Meghan Markle and Prince Harry reportedly passed on a much-watched Diana Award appearance despite their UK return. The Duchess of Sussex and the Duke were reportedly expected to attend a London gala on September 18. However, a spokesperson said they were “not scheduled” for the event and added, “Facts matter. Accuracy matters.” The update kept attention on Harry’s first major public steps after relocating from the US.

As per an Express report, the royal couple would not attend. The outlet said conflicting reports had linked Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to a Diana Award event. The event was scheduled for September 18 at Raffles London at The OWO.

However, a spokesperson told the Daily Express, “Despite the Daily Mail’s reporting to the contrary,” they were “not scheduled” to attend. The representative added, “Facts matter. Accuracy matters.”

Meanwhile, the report said Prince Harry was still weighing other ways to support the Diana Award. An insider claimed the Duke was considering “writing a letter” instead. The same source said he could also appear through a “video message.”

That route was notable because Harry reportedly now lived in the Cotswolds during term time. Still, his proximity did not mean an in-person appearance at the London event.

For context, both Prince Harry and Prince William were patrons of the charity. The Diana Award was named in honor of their late mother. Express said the charity aimed to empower young people to lead change.

However, the brothers had kept their involvement “strictly separated” for several years. In 2024, William made a short speech and presented awards. Harry later video-called the winners after his brother had left.

Still, William’s own position remained open after the Sussex denial. The Prince of Wales was not currently expected at the Friday night dinner. However, confirmation that Harry would not attend could clear space for William to appear.

The outlet said he could attend “at least part of the evening.” For Meghan Markle, Prince Harry, and the Diana Award, the UK return did not guarantee a joint public moment.
