Miley Cyrus recently opened up about her past struggles with “drugs and alcohol” in a new interview with Variety magazine. The “Wrecking Ball” singer disclosed how having a “sober lens” had helped her in navigating her struggles with substance use in the past. According to the news outlet, Cyrus decided to bring a shift in her life by getting sober. It was reportedly when she was in her mid-twenties, during the pandemic.

During the interview, the 33-year-old expressed, “It’s no surprise that I had my experiences with drugs and alcohol.” She then went on to talk about how she used to live her life, looking back on the vertigo that came with childhood fame.

Cyrus explained, “I was so used to living at a high,” adding, “And I don’t think I ever learned how to come down from that.” After that, she mentioned her sobriety. She said, “Now, through a sober lens, I can have compassion and understanding for myself.”

In the meantime, Miley Cyrus further addressed her decision not to go on arena tours after the “Bangerz” tour in 2014. “I actually miss and love live shows, adding, “But me being on the road for six months out of the year.” Cyrus continued, “and leaving my family and my normalcy and my routine is just not best for me.” Meanwhile, the Hannah Montana 20th Anniversary Special is all set to premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on March 24.
