- Millie Bobby Brown says her American* Stranger Things* costars were very perplexed by her British meals.

- The actress said she’d often get “food-shamed” by her castmates for eating dishes like a baked potato on set.

- “They were like, ‘It’s like you live in the 1800s and you found some, like, speciality. It’s, like, wrapped in tinfoil,’” she recalled.

If *Stranger Things* taught us anything, it’s that friends don’t lie... even when it comes to their opinions on your food.

During a recent visit to *Hot Ones*, Millie Bobby Brown revealed that her American costars had very emphatic reactions to the British dishes that she’d bring with her to eat on the set of the Netflix sci-fi series.

“When I was on* Stranger Things*, I used to get food-shamed a lot,” Brown explained. “When I would go on, they’d be all American, and they’d be like, ‘Mate, what the f‑‑‑ are you eating?’”

She continued, “Because they were like, ‘It’s like you live in the 1800s and you found some, like, speciality. It’s, like, wrapped in tinfoil.’”

The actress explained that she often had to go “hide in a corner” in order to eat her tinfoil-covered meals in peace. “They’d be like, ‘What is that?’” she recalled, laughing along the way. “And I was just like, ‘
It’s a jacket potato with beans and cheese. It’s nothing.’”

While her costars may not have thought that a baked potato covered in beans and cheese was particularly appetizing, Brown noted that the savory dish gets the exact opposite reaction whenever she shoots projects in the U.K.

“So they didn’t get it,” she said of her *Stranger Things* pals, “but when I go on set in England, everyone’s like, ‘Having a jacket! Lovely!’”

Brown starred as Jane Hopper, a.k.a. Eleven, on all five seasons of *Stranger Things*, which came to a dramatic conclusion on New Year’s Eve. The Emmy-winning series also starred Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, David Harbour, and Gaten Matarazzo.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that the show’s final season had received seven Emmy nominations, earning nods for its production design, prosthetic makeup, sound, stunts, and visual effects.

While Brown has since traded the U.K. for her very own Georgia farm with husband Jake Bongiovi and their daughter, the actress explained that her mom still cooks up some British staples whenever she visits.

“Spag Bol is pretty much the only thing my mum can cook,” Brown explained earlier, referring to the delicacy better known as spaghetti bolognese. “It’s, like, Friday, mum’s like, ‘I’m making another spag bol!’ And I’m like, ‘Mum, we’ve had it, like, three times this week. We can’t have any more spag bols.’”

As a result, Brown says it’s pretty much all she and her family eat these days. “For 50 years, I’m just gonna have a recipe book of varieties of spag bols,” she teased. “However, it’s one of my favorites. And when I’m in England — I don’t really order it at a restaurant, it’s really just gotta be my mum’s.”
