- Millie Bobby Brown says her American* Stranger Things* costars were very perplexed by her British meals.
- The actress said sheâd often get âfood-shamedâ by her castmates for eating dishes like a baked potato on set.
- âThey were like, âItâs like you live in the 1800s and you found some, like, speciality. Itâs, like, wrapped in tinfoil,ââ she recalled.
If *Stranger Things* taught us anything, itâs that friends donât lie... even when it comes to their opinions on your food.
During a recent visit to *Hot Ones*, Millie Bobby Brown revealed that her American costars had very emphatic reactions to the British dishes that sheâd bring with her to eat on the set of the Netflix sci-fi series.
âWhen I was on* Stranger Things*, I used to get food-shamed a lot,â Brown explained. âWhen I would go on, theyâd be all American, and theyâd be like, âMate, what the fâââ are you eating?ââ

She continued, âBecause they were like, âItâs like you live in the 1800s and you found some, like, speciality. Itâs, like, wrapped in tinfoil.ââ
The actress explained that she often had to go âhide in a cornerâ in order to eat her tinfoil-covered meals in peace. âTheyâd be like, âWhat is that?ââ she recalled, laughing along the way. âAnd I was just like, ââŠItâs a jacket potato with beans and cheese. Itâs nothing.ââ

While her costars may not have thought that a baked potato covered in beans and cheese was particularly appetizing, Brown noted that the savory dish gets the exact opposite reaction whenever she shoots projects in the U.K.
âSo they didnât get it,â she said of her *Stranger Things* pals, âbut when I go on set in England, everyoneâs like, âHaving a jacket! Lovely!ââ
Brown starred as Jane Hopper, a.k.a. Eleven, on all five seasons of *Stranger Things*, which came to a dramatic conclusion on New Yearâs Eve. The Emmy-winning series also starred Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Winona Ryder, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, David Harbour, and Gaten Matarazzo.

On Wednesday, it was revealed that the showâs final season had received seven Emmy nominations, earning nods for its production design, prosthetic makeup, sound, stunts, and visual effects.
While Brown has since traded the U.K. for her very own Georgia farm with husband Jake Bongiovi and their daughter, the actress explained that her mom still cooks up some British staples whenever she visits.
âSpag Bol is pretty much the only thing my mum can cook,â Brown explained earlier, referring to the delicacy better known as spaghetti bolognese. âItâs, like, Friday, mumâs like, âIâm making another spag bol!â And Iâm like, âMum, weâve had it, like, three times this week. We canât have any more spag bols.ââ
As a result, Brown says itâs pretty much all she and her family eat these days. âFor 50 years, Iâm just gonna have a recipe book of varieties of spag bols,â she teased. âHowever, itâs one of my favorites. And when Iâm in England â I donât really order it at a restaurant, itâs really just gotta be my mumâs.â
