My Girlfriend's Wardrobe finds fresh start in Olde Tollgate Village

My Girlfriend’s Wardrobe opened on Friday, May 1 in the Olde Tollgate Village, drawing loyal customers as well as new ones to the bright new store.
"We have been busy nonstop. We had people waiting for us to open," owner Alexandria Keener Hammond said on opening day. "It has been a really fun and exciting morning."
The women's consignment boutique sells designer and luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Chloé, Saint Laurent, David Yurman, Lilly Pulitzer, Kate Spade, Michael Kors, Maui Jim, Coach and Tory Burch.
My Girlfriend's Wardrobe had been located in downtown York for 13 years. In February, a radiator pipe burst and caused water damage to the building. Hammond decided to relocate her business to the shopping center in York Township when she didn't receive updates about when repairs would begin.
Alexandria Keener Hammond, owner of My Girlfriend's Wardrobe, relocated her store to the Olde Tollgate Village in York Township after her downtown location suffered water damage earlier this year. “Honestly, this was the absolute best outcome that we could’ve had,” she said.
Hammond said she had to postpone one of her biggest sales in March because she couldn't offer it in the small footprint where the business was operating. She plans to reschedule it for sometime later this year.
She also wouldn't have been able to host the store's semi-annual sale in June if the business had remained downtown.
Hammond said she had to make a decision with the information she had and what was going to be best for her business. She has five employees, and their hours had to be cut on weekends while the store operated in a 500-square-foot space.

"Honestly, this was the absolute best outcome that we could've had," she said.
My Girlfriend's Wardrobe recently relocated to the Olde Tollgate Village in York Township. The store sells designer and luxury brands including Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chanel, Gucci, Saint Laurent, Michael Kors and Coach.
The new store is just slightly larger than her former one, but it feels bigger because of the layout.
"Everybody is loving it," Hammond said. "They love how much bigger the space feels. All of the really great natural light."
Hammond will be hosting the Mother's Day Market on Sunday, May 10 in downtown York. It will be the official celebration in the city this year because the Olde York Street Fair will not be held.
My Girlfriend's Wardrobe has opened in a bright, airy space in the Olde Tollgate Village in York Township.
The Mother's Day Market will be the store's last event downtown, Hammond said. She is interested in talking with the property and business owners at Olde Tollgate Village about hosting the market on a smaller format at the shopping center in the future.
My Girlfriend's Wardrobe is located at 2519 South Queen Street. Its hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.
