Chase Stokes is responding to rumors about his appearance.
The Outer Banks star appeared on the Iāve Never Said This Before podcast when he was asked to point out the āmost ridiculous assumption or rumorā that heās seen about himself on the internet, according to a clip published by PEOPLE.
Stokes quickly told host Tommy DiDario that the wildest chatter heās seen about himself is āthe amount of plastic surgery Iāve had,ā explaining, āI see these doctors who are like, āHeās got an upper [blepharoplasty]ā and, āHeās got his lips done.ā Like legitimate doctors.ā
Stokes took the opportunity to address the rumor mill head on. āOn the record, I will say it, Iāve never had any work done on my face, and so itās so funny to me to see them go into the details of it all,ā he said. āIām like, āOh man, you should probably have your license revoked there.āā
The actor said that the social media doctors āgo into all the details in the anatomy of my faceā assuming heās had work done. āWhat are we doing?ā he asked.

Stokes said that he has learned to log off rather than engage with people discussing him on social media. āI used to be a little more online with that stuff, but Iāve realized to just shut up,ā he said. āItās so tough, but then you realize when you comment, you give them more exposure.ā
Elsewhere in the clip, Stokes reflected on his rise to fame after the breakout success of Netflixās Outer Banks. āItās not like thereās an idiotās guide to success in this industry, and I didnāt really have mentors because it did happen so fast,ā he said.

However, he noted that he and his castmates had a certain amount of āluxuryā compared to other shows with similar success like Prime Videoās Off Campus and HBO Maxās Heated Rivalry because Outer Banks blew up during the pandemic. The castās social isolation protected them from the immediate effects of overnight fame.
āWe went right back to work, and we were put in a bubble,ā he said. āSo we didnāt go out into the world. We went to an apartment complex that we literally could go from our apartments to work and back.ā
Stokes explained that he experienced an āelongated time period where the world was still shut down, even though the world was kind of open, because our jobs were the priority.ā

Once he and his castmates emerged from their isolated bubble, they felt a more pronounced distance from their pre-Outer Banks lives.
āOnce the world opened up, we all just felt so cooped up, and then we all just went any and everywhere we could,ā he said. āAnd I really had a hard time with it. I didnāt know how to navigate somebody knowing as much as they did about me that I had never met, and feeling like I had to be on all the time, and not really having a social life to then having a social life āĀ it was a really tough adjustment.ā
He added, āPeople want to see you fail, people want to see you fall. And Iām not perfect, and Iām subject to some of the criticism that Iāve gone through, but at the end of the day, youāre trying to figure it out as youāre going.ā
