Prince and Princess of Wales avoiding 'knee-jerk' reaction to Harry and Meghan's return to UK

The Prince and Princess of Wales are avoiding a "knee-jerk" reaction to Harry and Meghan's shock return to the UK, a source has suggested.
As the Sussexes touched down in Birmingham last Wednesday, it is unlikely William and Catherine - who had been informed about the move just two weeks prior - would have been rejoicing.
The two brothers are understood to be firmly not in contact with one another.
In fact, the last time they are believed to have spoken was the late Queen's funeral in 2022 - and even that was brief.
No members of the Royal Family have yet spoken out about the return of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
A source told People that the Waleses are intentionally ensuring they refrain from any "knee-jerk" reactions, despite the undoubted shock over their return.
"They are watching this space," the source told the magazine.
"It’s private - they don’t feel the need to say anything or demonstrate anything outwardly."
According to the source, reconciliation, if any, "will be a slow build," because there remains a "deep sense of betrayal" on William's side.
Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams recently told GB News that the future King had been left "extremely unhappy" by the news of his younger brother's homecoming.
Despite this, the British public is overwhelmingly in favour of their desire to see the siblings reconcile.

A recent YouGov poll of 2,128 British adults, in collaboration with The Times, shows that 58 per cent of those asked would like the brothers to reconcile.
However, within that, 32 per cent believe it is possible, while 26 per cent do not.

On the contrary, just 13 per cent said they do not want Harry and William to resolve their differences, while 28 per cent are unsure if they do.
The best opportunity to see the brothers side by side could prove to be the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death next year.
There had been talks of the brothers reuniting for the occasion, though no plans have been confirmed yet.
The Diana Award charity is believed to be orchestrating a series of major events to commemorate Diana's death.
The significant anniversary will undoubtedly attract swathes of attention, potentially creating a moment when the brothers' shared loss could once again take centre stage - as has been seen in the past.
In 2007, William and Harry joined forces to organise a massive tribute concert at Wembley Stadium, featuring some of Diana's favourite musical artists.
A decade later, the brothers toured the White Garden at Kensington Palace, a memorial planted specifically in Diana's honour, before unveiling the Diana statue in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace five years ago.
As for next year, Harry is expected to remain closely connected to Britain, with the Invictus Games due to be held in Birmingham in July 2027, the month before the anniversary.
Mr Fitzwilliams previously told the People's Channel it is "of course a possibility" that the brothers could be reunited for the special event.
