A throwback photo shared to celebrate Prince Edward's birthday included two of his siblings, but the former Prince Andrew was missing from the chosen image.

The Royal Collection Trust celebrated Prince Edward's 62nd birthday on Tuesday, March 10, by sharing a throwback photo of Edward with his eldest brother, the future King Charles, and his sister, Princess Anne.

"Happy birthday to The Duke of Edinburgh, born on this day in 1964," the trust wrote below a black-and-white snap of a young Prince Edward with his two siblings on Instagram. "Prince Edward plays with his big brother and sister in this photo from 1969."

The Duke of Edinburgh is the youngest of the late Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's four children, and the Royal Collection Trust's decision to share an image without Andrew comes weeks after the former Duke of York's arrest.

On Feb. 19, his 66th birthday, Andrew was arrested at his temporary residence at the royal family's Sandringham estate on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was detained as police investigate a claim that he shared confidential information with the late Jeffrey Epstein in his previous role as a U.K. trade envoy.

Andrew's ties to Epstein, an American financier and convicted sex offender, set his step back from royal life in motion in 2019. King Charles stripped Andrew's royal titles, including prince, in October 2025 as his Epstein links came under renewed scrutiny. Despite admitting to having a relationship with Epstein, Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing.

Andrew now faces an uncertain legal road ahead following his arrest, and the King released a brief statement after his brother's arrest.

"I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office… Let me state clearly: The law must take its course," the King said in a message on Feb. 19.

The wording was deliberate, Queen Elizabeth's former press secretary Ailsa Anderson exclusively tells PEOPLE: “It was a way of distancing himself.”

On March 9, the day before Prince Edward's birthday, King Charles, Princess Anne, Prince William, Kate Middleton and more royal family members came together for the annual Commonwealth Service at Westminster Abbey, where anti-monarchy protestors met the moment with signs referencing Andrew's scandals.

"What did you know?" one said, while another read, "Charles, what are you hiding?"

Though they're full-time working members of the royal family, Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, the Duchess of Edinburgh didn't attend the Commonwealth Service, as royal duty took them elsewhere.
