Hollywood is mourning the loss of Carla Jeffery, the American actress known for playing Bree in Disney Channel'sZombies film franchise, who died on September 1. Jeffery was 33.
Jeffery's longtime rep, Carla Alexander, announced the tragic news of the actress' passing on social media:
"For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room. Carla was more than a client; she was family."
Born in 1993 in Houston, Carla Jeffery is the sister of actor Carlon Jeffery, who is best known for playing Cameron Parks on the Disney Channel's A.N.T. Farm. Carlon's interest in music and acting reportedly inspired her family's move from Ohio to California, where she took acting classes with her twin brother. Jeffery joined Alexander's Talent Management at age 12 and remained with them until her death.

Carla Jeffery's breakout role came in the 2018 Disney Channel musical telefilm Zombies. The late actress played Bree Prattle, an aspiring cheerleader who becomes Addison's (Meg Donnelly) friend. Jeffery also reprised her beloved character in the 2020 and 2022 sequels and the 2024 animated musical television series Zombies: The Re-Animated Series. The actress also played Bree in cast music videos for songs including "Flesh & Bone" and "Fired Up," and she also appeared in her Zombies co-star Donnelly’s video for "Impress."
Carla Jeffery began her career in 2006 with her first screen role as a 10-year-old Jazmin Biltmore in the American romantic comedy filmPhat Girlz. The role was played by Mo'Nique and Raven Goodwin (younger version).

A year after her debut role, Carla Jeffery bagged a recurring role in HBO's comedy series Curb Your Enthusiasm, created by Larry David. Jeffery played Keysha Black, a member of a Black family (which also included JB Smoove's Leon and Vivica A. Fox's Loretta) who moved in with David after getting hit by Hurricane Katrina. The late actress appeared in 10 episodes of Curb Your Enthusiasm Seasons 6 and 7.
Carla Jeffery's prominent role inCurb Your Enthusiasm opened the doors to exciting opportunities. The actress went on to guest-star in many series, namely Nickelodeon's teen sitcom iCarly, TNT's comedy-drama series Men of a Certain Age, Disney Channel's sitcom Shake It Up, ABC’s Miss Guided, ABC's sitcom Suburgatory, FOX's dark comedy Scream Queens and Netflix's 2017 mockumentary American Vandal.
Additionally, Jeffery had minor roles in Jason Strouse's 2014 comedy film Teacher of the Year and Jay Silverman's 2015 drama film Girl on the Edge, starring Taylor Spreitler, Gil Bellows and Elizabeth Peña.
Jeffery also voiced Mania in an episode of Disney XD's 2017 animated series Spider-Man.
Zombies: The Re-Animated Series became the actress’s final on-screen role, with her reprising the beloved character across 15 episodes.
