- Jake Reiner posted a behind-the-scenes photo of his dad Rob in one of his final roles.

- The actor-director, who died in December, portrayed George Washington on Larry David’s new show, *Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness*.

- The skit takes aim at Donald Trump, whom Rob was a fierce critic of.

Jake Reiner is remembering one of his father Rob Reiner’s final on-screen roles.

Jake, who appears on *Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness*, shared a behind-the-scenes photo on Sunday evening of his late father, who died in December. Rob also had a cameo on Larry David’s new show as George Washington for a skit parodying the first president’s farewell address, which becomes disrupted by a curious onlooker (David).

In the image, Rob stands in costume with his signature beard. On the show, however, the late actor-director is almost unrecognizable, appearing clean-shaven as the Founding Father.

In the skit — which appeared to take aim at Donald Trump, who has expressed interest in a third term— Rob (a lifelong Democrat) as Washington declares that after his second term as president, he will step down from his role and not seek reelection.

ā€œI believe that no man should serve more than two terms as president, and I hope that future presidents will follow my lead,ā€ Washington says.

David, an onlooker in the crowd listening in, asks, ā€œWhat if some future president doesn’t follow your lead and runs for a third term?ā€

ā€œThere are remedies for that,ā€ Washington responds. ā€œThe Congress can pass a constitutional amendment that would prevent that.ā€

The curious onlooker then gets oddly specific: ā€œWhat if there’s some a--hole in office, some narcissistic prick who doesn’t follow the Constitution?ā€ Washington reminds the crowd that the system of checks and balances will keep things just and fair for the country.

But David’s character won’t stop. ā€œBut what if the Supreme Court is a bunch of yes-men, and Congress is a bunch of pussies who care more about party than country?ā€ he shouts, throwing off Washington.

ā€œI can’t even fathom the existence of such men,ā€ Washington responds. ā€œBut to further ensure the success of this grand experiment, I would suggest that after every presidential election, there be a peaceful transfer of power, where the loser accepts the results of the election and full-throatedly endorses the victor.ā€

The skit carries on, ending with a scuffle in the crowd over David’s worries about an unjust leader who is an ā€œinsecure lying a--hole, who would even cheat at golf,ā€ among other things.

In April, Jake penned a heartbreaking essay about the loss of his parents Rob and Michele, who were found dead in their Brentwood home in December. He detailed his grief and reflected on their legacy.

ā€œTo me, my parents are at the center of my life. They are my guiding lights, the foundation of who I am as a human being, and the most giving people I have ever known,ā€ he wrote in part on Substack.

ā€œA lot of people don’t have the luxury of having the best parents, the best mom, or the best dad, but I did. The love they have for me, my brother, and my sister is truly unconditional. And the love they have for each other in their marriage is something I always looked up to as the standard of what a successful relationship looks like,ā€ Jake continued.
