Seth Meyers Reveals the ‘Funniest’ Member of His“ Saturday Night Live” Group Chat

Seth Meyers is sharing which one of his formerSaturday Night Livecast members is the “funniest” to text with.

In an interview on the latest episode of the Jonas Brothers’ Hey Jonaspodcast, Meyers, 52, shared that he is on a few different group chats with SNL cast members, including one with Andy Samberg, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader.

And the funniest of the trio via text? Armisen, Meyers shared.

“I will say the funniest texter independent of a group: Fred Armisen,” Meyers said on the podcast. “Would not surprise anybody, just got — with no context — a Happy Father’s Day message from him, but it was a voice note [and] he was Homer Simpson. Just talking a lot about how he hopes I got donuts for Father’s Day.”

Meyers also shared that he’s in a group chat with former SNL “Weekend Update” co-host Amy Poehlerand Michael Shoemaker, producer of Late Night with Seth Meyers.

“We’re ‘The Tripod,’ the three of us,” Meyers shared. “That’s sort of a lovingly supportive one.”

Meyers was a cast member, head writer and “Weekend Update” anchor on the show from 2001 to 2014.

The comedian wed his wife Alexi Ashe on Sept. 1, 2013, and three years later, they welcomed their first child together, son Ashe Olson. In 2018, Seth and Alexi’s second son, Axel Strahl, was born, and their family grew again in 2021 with the birth of their daughter, Adelaide Ruth.

Last November, the comedian’s three kids joined him on an episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers for an impromptu interview, of which he later said: “I’m so happy about the instinct not to tell them ahead of time so they had no time to be nervous or overthink it. And it was really sudden. I literally was like, ‘Okay, you guys are gonna come out. I’m going to talk to you real quick.’ ”

He added, “I love that an audience did not shake them from who they were, which was a really special thing to see because I’m like, I don’t think I have that as a performer. But it was really funny, when it was over, they were walking, and my son, the oldest one who was nervous, he literally grabbed my hand and was like, ‘We should do this again soon.’ ”
