Greenville's restaurants give sons and daughters a wide variety of selections to surprise mom with, and downtown, nothing is off the brunch table.
If you haven't made reservations for May 10 yet, Yelp's rankings for the best restaurants to take mom for Mother's Day are worth checking out. If you're too late for Mother's Day, mom would probably appreciate a gift card or a rain check dinner at one of these 10 choices.
The local business review website's number one pick ― a popular modern Italian restaurant with an outdoor terrace overlooking Falls Park ― is sure to be busy on the special day, so make sure you act fast and call ahead.
No. 1: Jianna
Known for being a great place to eat downtown with equally great views, Jianna is a standout in the Greenville restaurant scene, featuring indoor and outdoor seating. Last year, the dining hot spot was recognized by the 2025 Michelin Guide to the American South, and if you visit for the first time with mom, you'll experience it firsthand. The restaurant, led by James Beard Award-nominated chef Michael Kramer, gives guests a spoonful of Italy's flavors, including in-house pasta, artisan spirits, and a warm dose of southern hospitality.
According to Yelp, the Ricotta Crostini is a must-have for the table, a dish that masterfully balances the sweet and savory with creamy ricotta, truffle honey, sea salt, and charred ciabatta bread. Jianna's oysters, a signature seafood staple, are carefully handled from dock to table, featuring splashes of flavor hailing from the East Coast, West Coast, and Canada.
If you'd like to take a crack at preparing some of these dishes for mom on your own, Jianna sells its own cookbook on the restaurant's website for $50.60.

Fork and Plough isn't just a farm-to-table restaurant in Greenville ― it's also a butchery and market. Nestled in the heart of Historic Overbook, the restaurant features locally sourced, seasonally inspired Southern cuisine. What you can expect to be served on Mother's Day will be a mystery, since the menu rotates; offerings change twice a day to showcase different dishes and fresh, local, and regional ingredients.

For starters, split the Crispy Brussel Sprouts between you and mom, smoked to perfection with paprika aioli. You can also try the chicken and vegetable soup featuring mirepoix, potatoes, tomato, chicken broth, and fresh herbs. Moving on to the main course, there is much to be had, like the Cajun Turkey & Pulled Pork Cuban, the Shiitake Swiss Cheeseburger, or, if mom prefers to keep on the seaside, a grilled salmon salad.

No. 3: UP on the Roof
Enjoy the sights of the city, the Reedy River, and the Blue Ridge Mountains alongside mom at this rooftop bar and restaurant, located on the eighth floor of the Embassy Suites at RiverPlace. UP on the Roof is known for its elevated dining experience and has several locations across the Southeast (including one in Anderson), so you'll want to select the Greenville menu when browsing the menu online.
Highlights from the brunch menu are the "French Toast-Ally Amazing," a French toast-soaked brioche layered with chocolate cream, drizzled with caramel latte, maple syrup, strawberry compote, and candied almonds (a chicken thigh can level up this meal for an additional fee). If a hearty brunch is more mom's style, "You're Burrito-Ful" will keep you satisfied until dinnertime with scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, pickled red onions, queso, cheddar cheese, cilantro, salsa, and creme fraiche― deliciousness wrapped together in a flour tortilla.
