The album came as Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans learned that the actress also had musical talent, showcased in an arc on the show

Ali opened up about that time during a TikTok live on Aug. 26

Tatyana Ali enjoyed reminiscing about a special time in her life.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air actress, 47, looked back on her singing career as fans shared an outpouring of love for the 28th anniversary of her debut album, “Kiss the Sky.” In a TikTok live, Ali shared her gratitude for the support and love, as well as a few tunes.

When Fresh Prince fans asked Ali to sing “Make Up Your Mind,” which Ashley famously sings in the season 5 episode, “What’s Will Got to Do With It?”

Though she briefly struggled to remember some of the lyrics, as the song wasn’t included on Kiss the Sky, she sounded great as she belted the nostalgic tune.

Sharing that moment from the TikTok live on Instagram, Ali wrote, “And the moment you’ve all been waiting for… Make Up Your Mind. This one wasn’t actually on Kiss the Sky, but it was the first song I ever recorded in the booth, and of course, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air fans know this one! Definitely a crowd favorite 😁.”

Elsewhere in the live, Ali talked about the title track and the experience of working with Boyz II Men’s Shawn Stockman on the song. “He was just on the keys and he was kind of talking with me and he had a microphone by his piano, and we were just playing around,” she recalled.

She continued by explaining that she was always fonder of the first recorded demo of the song, which ultimately didn’t make the album. “I remember, even as a kid, being like, ‘The demo was the one.’ The demo was the one. They changed things; things got changed. I don’t know what happened to the demo, but that raw demo, in that moment, that was when it was like, ‘Oh, there’s an album.’ ”

At the end of the live, Ali thanked her fans again. She teared up as she said, “The amount of love that y’all have shown me throughout my life. I love you so much, and now I know, I know where to go. I will see you soon. Have a beautiful, beautiful, beautiful day; a blessed day. See you soon!”

In a 2024 chat with PEOPLE, Ali looked back on touring during the early days of her music career. In 1999, the singer toured with both *NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, a dream for any young adult entertainer at the time.

“My favorite was *NSYNC,” she shared. “They had more of a family atmosphere on their tour. I opened up for them around the U.S. and they just had a real family vibe — dinners and time together while we were in a different city every day.”

“I’ll tell you though, with both NSYNC and the Backstreet Boys, I had to really work to win the girl fans over,” Ali added. “There were crazy stories. It was wild and such a time with the fans and the stadiums being just packed. It was really fun. I got to see all of the U.S. with *NSYNC. With the Backstreet Boys, we toured Europe. So I got to see a lot of Europe then too.”
