Taylor Frankie Paul directly addressed her time in a rehab facility for the first time on her Instagram Stories on July 5

Taylor Frankie Paul is opening up about her decision to enter a rehab facility.

In a series of posts to her Instagram Stories on July 5, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star, 32, spoke openly about her stay in rehab for the first time, sharing why she decided to seek treatment.

“I knew that I was in a spot to take a step back and be like, ‘OK, we need a reset,’ ” said the reality TV personality. “No. 1 priority was just a reset for my mental health and to get away — decompress, whether it’s one day, whether it’s seven, whether it’s 30. I willingly did that. That was my choice.”

In her video, Paul also claimed that her stay in a rehab facility had been “weaponized” against her, though she didn’t specify how. “It kind of bums me out,” she said.

In June, a source told PEOPLE that Paul had checked into a rehab facility “upon the recommendation of her doctor,” noting that it was a “voluntary” stay and that she was “committed to getting better.” Another source said at the time that “the people around Taylor want her to get help,” adding that those around her “want to see her get better.”

Paul seemingly alluded to her stay in a rehab facility in posts on her Instagram Stories earlier in July, appearing to imply that she had her kids “taken” by unnamed exes after she sought treatment.

“Why would I ever ask for help again. I openly tested at the facility and was clean aside from my prescription meds I openly talk about,” she wrote at the time. “This is abuse by proxy.”

News of Paul’s rehab stay comes amid a contentious several months for the Utah native, who has been embroiled in a messy custody battle with ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, 33, over their 2-year-old son Ever and was named in multiple domestic violence investigations alongside Mortensen by Utah police departments earlier this year.

In March, Paul also made headlines for the public release of a 2023 video capturing a violent altercation between her and Mortensen, after which ABC promptly called off her already-filmed season of The Bachelorette.

On June 30, Paul’s ex-husband, Tate, with whom she shares 8-year-old daughter Indy and 5-year-old son Ocean, filed for a restraining order against her, though a judge declined to grant the restraining order the following day.

In another post to her Instagram Stories on July 5, Paul shared a photo of flowers, writing, “No coincidence that piles of flowers always end up on my doorstep on the hardest days. That’s god working through people.”
