Season 2 of FX‘s hit sci-fi series, Alien: Earth, has started production in London. See a behind-the-scenes photo above. The news is a welcome update for fans eager to jump back into the latest chapter of showrunner Noah Hawley‘s spinoff set in the world of Ridley Scott’s film franchise. Alien: Earth‘s return is bringing about some changes.

Season 2 has added to the cast, with FX revealing Tracey Ullman, Sam Spruell, and Jerome Flynn are joining the previously announced Peter Dinklage on Thursday, July 9. It’s a reunion for Spruell and Hawley, who worked together on Fargo. Character details have yet to be released

When was Alien: Earth renewed for Season 2?

Alien: Earth was renewed for a second season at FX in November 2025, coinciding with Hawley signing an overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television, continuing his partnership with the company, which has also helped produce Fargo. Season 1 hauled in 9.2 million views globally in its first six days of streaming, kicking off a strong start to its series run, undoubtedly playing into Season 2’s greenlight.

When will Alien: Earth Season 2 premiere?

No premiere date has been set, but Alien: Earth Season 2 is in production in London. Babou Ceesay shared behind-the-scenes teases on Instagram. Previously, Adarsh Gourav confirmed June 2026 production to CineBuster, as he said: “I’ll be leaving for the international schedule in the first week of June, and we begin filming shortly after.”

Who stars in Alien: Earth Season 2?

Alien: Earth Season 2 features Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Moe Bar-El, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, and more.

While character details have yet to be released, after news of Dinklage’s casting broke, Hawley teased some exciting information about the gravity of his role in Season 2, telling Deadline, “Obviously, this franchise has a lot of iconic roles in it. I am, for better or worse, an ensemble writer who has never met a character I didn’t like, but he’s got a major role, and people are going to feel it’s a worthy role for him.”

What is Alien: Earth about?

Alien: Earth is set in the year 2120, on an Earth governed by five corporations. When the mysterious deep-space research vessel USSCS Maginot, owned by the corporation Weyland-Yutani, crashes in Prodigy Corporation territory, hybrid Wendy sets out with a ragtag team of tactical soldiers to make a fateful discovery that puts them face-to-face with the planet’s greatest threat. Along with the classic Xenomorph, the Maginot was harboring various other alien species that pose threats known and unknown.

Who makes Alien: Earth?

Alien: Earth was created for television by Hawley, who executive produces the series with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales, and Clayton Krueger. The show is produced by FX Productions.
