Her post continued: "I’ve been sitting with my memories this morning, and just want to send my love and strength to [his wife] Betty and the Malo family, to The Mavericks, and to everyone who loved Raul and his music."
Yearwood previously collaborated with Malo and The Mavericks on a rendition of the C. Carson Parks song "Somethin' Stupid." It was released as part of the band's 1995 album, Music for All Occasions.
At the time, Yearwood was married to Malo's bandmate, bassist Robert Reynolds. They were married for five years before divorcing in 1999.
Concluding her emotional message on Tuesday, Yearwood wrote, "Gone too soon 💔"
"Sending you our love. We know you were very close to the band at one time," one of her fans wrote in support under the post.
Another person wrote, "I have such vivid memories of you joining The Mavericks on stage at the House of Blues in Hollywood to sing 'Something Stupid' - you and Raul made musical magic that evening."
"I loved your duet with him from so long ago," someone else added. "When I heard he passed away, one of the first people I thought of was you. What an incredible loss for us all."
