What Avid Baker Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Chose to Serve Guests Instead of a Traditional Wedding Cake

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce hosted a massive wedding on July 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City

The reception featured several food stations and a massive dessert table instead of a traditional wedding cake

The celebration was attended by an estimated 1,000 guests

The only thing sweeter than Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s love story? Their dessert table.

After their Adam Sandler-officiatedceremony at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on Friday, July 3, the newlyweds and their estimated 1,000 guests enjoyed a variety of cuisine from food stations before filling their plates with an even more extensive spread of desserts.

Guests enjoyed bites from a number of stations that featured Italian food — like pasta in a parmesan wheel — sushi, steak, burgers and fries, and seafood, an insider told PEOPLE. And of course, “there were bars everywhere,” said the insider.

Instead of one traditional wedding cake, there was a massive dessert table featuring around 30 different cakes, each topped with a unique 3D figure of Swift and Kelce, according to TMZ. There were also all kinds of other sweet treats for guests to choose from.

A source tells PEOPLE exclusively that the dessert table, which also featured pop tarts, cookies, pastries and other treats, was “a focal point” during the celebration.

Swift — who is an avid sourdough bread baker and has previously said she has “a different baking obsession every six months”— has expanded Kelce’s perspective on food, according to those close to him.

In the May 6 episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce’s sister-in-law Kylie said Swift has impacted the Kansas City Chiefs tight end in that “he’s more adventurous with food.” Kelce quipped back, “Yeah, I’m more of a man when I’m around her and eat foods I haven’t tried before.”

The couple poked fun at Kelce’s pickiness with a silly surprise cameo during the live taping of New Heights in June. A short video played of Swift pretending to feed Kelce in what appeared to be a restaurant while making airplane noises before placing the food in the NFL star’s mouth. Kelce then flipped off the camera as the crowd laughed.

Swift and Kelce’s wedding reception celebration kicked into high gear with performances by Stevie Nicks and Paul McCartney, the latter of whom sang The Beatles’ “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”

The party also featured a number of games for guests to play, and winners received tickets to be put toward a raffle. Items up for grabs included designer bags, watches and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle — the same car that Kelce drove Swift off into the sunset in after her first Chiefs game in September 2023.

Despite the large number of guests, Swift and Kelce took the time to “talk to everyone they could” and kept “thanking everyone for being there,” a friend of the couple told PEOPLE. Kelce’s mom, Donna, described the day as “magical” in a July 5 interview, while director Joseph Kahn, who has helmed videos for Swift including “Bad Blood” and “Look What You Made Me Do,” wrote on Instagram that the day was “so much funnier and emotional than expected.” He also joked that “literally everyone was there,” making the starry spectacle something of a Met Gala 2.0—but with an even more exclusive guest list.

In addition to their families, Swift and Kelce celebrated their nuptials with an extensive guest list of famous friends and colleagues, including Julia Roberts, Tom Hanks, Reese Witherspoon, Laura Dern, Emma Stone, Brad Pitt and many more.
