"Dutton Ranch" may be a spinoff in the "Yellowstone" franchise, but season 2 could lift the show out of the mountainous shadow.

With a new showrunner, Benjamin Cavell, and a projected early 2027 start of production, stars of the show Cole Hauser and Kelly Reilly are prepared to head back to film one of Paramount+'s most successful shows to date.

Here's what to expect for Season 2 of "Dutton Ranch" and when you can expect to see the Duttons take back their business.

Is there a season 2 of 'Dutton Ranch?' When is it?

Dutton Ranch was renewed for a second season in June. The show was renewed prior to the penultimate episode of season one. While it is confirmed, there is no airdate prepared for the show's second season.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, season two is slated to begin filming in early 2027.

"Now we get to make a show that we really are proud of,” Kelly Reilly told The Hollywood Reporter.

What's changing in 'Dutton Ranch' season 2?

While officials and "Yellowstone" creator Taylor Sheridan are ready for a second season, the show needed to find a new showrunner and executive producer.

Creator of "Dutton Ranch," Chad Feehan, departed from the project before the first episode aired yet continued to be listed as creator. Feehan wrote the premiere episode and co-wrote episode seven.

Now, Benjamin Cavell, "SEAL Team" creator, will lead the operation as showrunner of the show's second season, Variety confirmed.

How to watch 'Dutton Ranch'

"Dutton Ranch" is available exclusively on Paramount+. The nine-episode first season is available to all Paramount+ subscribers.

"Dutton Ranch" is the sequel and spinoff of "Yellowstone," the Taylor Sheridan-created smash hit that aired on Paramount Network from 2018 to 2024.

Paramount describes "Dutton Ranch" as follows:
